(1) A police officer who has reason to believe that a criminal offence was committed, is likely to be committed or is being committed on land or in a building within an escalated crime area, shall have the right of access to the land or building.
(2) In accessing land or a building under subsection (1), a police officer may enter into and remain in occupation of the land or building for a reasonable period that allows him or her to exercise his or her functions.
