(1) The registration of an initial notice, amendment notice, or cancellation notice is effective from the date and time when the information in the notice is entered in the Register.
(2) Subject to subsection (3), the registration of an initial notice is effective for 5 years or another prescribed period.
(3) A person who registered an initial notice may, within 6 months or another prescribed period before the expiry of an initial notice, register an amendment notice for the extension of the period of effectiveness.
(4) The registration of an amendment notice under subsection (3) may extend the period of effectiveness under subsection (2) for an additional period of 5 years, beginning from the time when the period of effectiveness under subsection (2) would have expired if the amendment notice had not been registered.
(5) A person who registered an initial notice may extend the period of effectiveness of the registration of an initial notice more than once.
