A person against whom a protection order is made and contravenes the protection order, commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction—
(a) in the case of a first conviction, to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months, or to both;
(b) in the case of a second conviction, to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or to both; and
(c) in the case of a subsequent conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years.
